school makeovers
School Makeover is a project aimed at refurbishing dilapidated community schools for less fortunate children and creating academic opportunities for children who are not currently attending education. Building Futures seeks to construct schools also in areas where there are no schools.
Educated children are the only hope for the future of Africa. We are bringing quality education and learning environments to communities that need our help.

GREG BAKER SCHOOLThe construction of Greg Baker School is one of our completed projects.
The facility is situated in central province of Zambia about 23 miles away from the capital city of Zambia (Lusaka). Specifically the place is a rural area (Shabwafwa Village) in Mwashinyambu area, in Katuba Constituency. The facility can accommodate 500+ children of which our survey shows that is the estimate of children under the age of 14 in the area. The facility encompasses grades 1-7 of the Zambian curriculum. The facility is well conceptualized as it is estimated to accommodate most of the children that are not attending school in Shabwafwa Village and the five surrounding village in a radius of 7KM. There is no school within the stipulated radius all around. Furthermore, the school construction project was accompanied by several support systems for the children in their education as well as women's literacy programme which was taking place in the same village called the Light to Read (LTR) Programme. This was an initiative by Generis International Canada which was aimed at empowering the women, to trickle down to benefit their children. |
